Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic person with a passion for facilitating learning? A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an  Apprenticeship Programmes Trainer/assessor within the Apprenticeship team. You will work under the guidance of the Apprenticeship Programme Facilitator in the delivery and assessing of the Trusts Apprenticeship programmes including but not limited to Healthcare support worker, Senior healthcare support worker and Learning and skills mentor. You will conduct mentor reviews within the apprentices workplace.  Taught sessions will be delivered in the classroom, remote learning and in the clinical and non-clinical workplace.

You will have the ability to work on your own initiative, be able to work under pressure, prioritise your workload and manage specific projects is essential. We require a flexible approach to working as some out of hours and off site  working may be required occasionally.

Main duties of the job

Are you the highly motivated individual with recent and relevant experience to join our team. This role is a great opportunity for someone with the right experience and ability to teach and assess apprenticeships delivered by the Trust. We are a highly motivated team and pride ourselves on developing and delivering high quality training opportunities for external employers, new and current employees at the Trust. 

You will have previous experience in training and assessing learners and will have a good knowledge of apprenticeship requirements including functional skills. You will mainly assist with the delivery of the Trusts Apprenticeship programmes. You will be able to assess others teaching and assessing in the clinical and classroom environment. This post will also assess competencies as set out within the apprenticeship standard.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Role Summary:

You will work under the guidance of the Apprenticeship Programme Facilitator in the delivery and assessing of the Trusts Apprenticeship programmes. Taught sessions will be delivered in the classroom, remote learning and in the clinical and non-clinical workplace. You will also assess competencies as set out within the apprenticeship programme. You will maintain learner e-portfolios and observations and be responsible for their allocated learners from induction to graduation.

You will share our enthusiasm and maintain good links with apprentices, line managers, educators and associated external partners.

ROLE  DUTIES: 

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, in a manner that is consistent with relevant legislation and local and national policies and procedures.
  • Maintain expertise in own area of practice, including knowledge and practice.
  • Conform to health safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Support the team to contribute to service delivery, add  value to the organisation and improves the safety & quality of care with compassion.
  • Implement and monitor quality systems and implement measures to achieve sustained improvement in line with the common inspection framework. Have the knowledge and confidence to maintain compliance in readiness for external audits including OFSTED.
  • Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.
  • Assist to deliver apprenticeship training sessions to support staff to achieve competent practice to be able to deliver high, quality standards of care.

Person specification

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Foundation degree level or equivalent experience within a health or education field
  • Recognised training/mentoring qualification
  • 3 GCSE’s at grade C or above to include Maths and English (or National literacy & Numeracy level 2 plus 3 GCSE’s)
Desirable criteria
  • Hold A1 Assessors course or D32/D33 course
  • Key mover Qualification
  • Hold IQA award

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of training /supporting development of staff in clinical environment
  • Experienced person with knowledge of NHS environments to be able to support managers with facilitate learning
  • Evidence of experience in optimising learning outcomes in or out of the clinical environment
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in an education environment
  • Previous experience of delivering training in a classroom
  • Currently trainer for M&H, ABLS
