Full time 37.5 hours per week. Fixed Term for 12 months.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Theatre Stores Assistant to work in the Theatres team within the Anaesthetic and Surgical Services Division at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with a positive attitude and excellent organisational skills, good attention to detail and stock management experience
The successful applicant will provide stock management, including ordering and stocking, stock rotation, cleaning of stores areas and taking specimens to pathology. The role includes manual handling. T
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of working in a similar environment.
Main duties of the job
- Undertake twice weekly evaluation of NHS Logistics stock for all theatres.
- Input stock via on line logistics
- Assist in the maintenance of all capture spread sheets with correct information e.g. product codes, finance.
- Undertake evaluation of stock for Theatres and Day Care Unit for all non-stock items as required.
- Assist in the ordering of prosthesis and implants in a timely manner as required to prevent cancelled operations
- Assist in the ordering of loan kits as required in a timely manner as required to prevent cancelled operations.
- Ensure all call off orders is completed as required.
- Receive delivery of stock and non-stock items ensuring correct quantities of stock have been received against ordered stock.
- Ensure stock and non-stock is put away in designated areas.
- Report any discrepancies regarding stock direct to Procurement.
- Ensure all documentation is completed so all invoices can be processed within 30 days.
- Analyse stock and increase or decrease stock levels based on usage in discussion with theatre stores manager.
- If stock is unavailable supplier to be contacted directly or seek an alternative supplier
- Inform Stores Manager of any cost increase or cost savings.
- Archive files and ensure safe keeping
- Undertake stock rotation and out of date products are removed immediately.
- Weekly cleaning of all shelves
- Pro-actively identify service improvement and cost savings.
- Check and delivery of specimens to pathology

- ECDL or equivalent IT qualification or experience.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures acquired through formal training or experience
Experience

- Experience of stock ordering and monitoring and management
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with medical and nursing staff.
- NHS/Public sector experience.
- Experience of negotiating price points and of using NHS ordering systems

- Able to lift and manoeuvre non-stock consumables in line with Trust moving and handling policies.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
