Are you an enthusiastic nurse, ready for a challenge?  We are looking for new staff to join our dynamic and busy School Nurse Team.  Working together we can make a real difference to outcomes for children and families in the Tameside area, reducing health inequalities across the borough by promoting the uptake of immunisation, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and supporting families to provide the very best start in life for young people.

You will work closely with the schools and the locality specialist SCPHN-School Nurse teams and there are opportunities for autonomous working as part of an integrated skill mix team. We have a corporate School Nursing Team structure that covers a defined geographical area and you will deliver the Integrated 0 – 19 Healthy Child Programme with collaborate working and liaison with our education partners and social care colleagues.

You will receive a full induction, preceptorship, safeguarding supervision, and clinical supervision, as well as role specific training. As an Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, there will be continued opportunities to develop shared service delivery with partner agencies, using evidence-based assessments and interventions.

1.     Assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of care for children and young people aged 4 – 19.

2.     Organizing, delivering and recording of screening programmes and national health promotion guidelines.

3.     Participate in all statutory processes in respect of safeguarding including provision of witness statements and court attendance.

 4.     Develop and maintain interagency networks within the wider children’s workforce

 5.     Follow policies and procedure of Tameside and Glossop Community Healthcare.

1.     Be a highly skilled communicator who can initiate or respond to communications with individuals (children & adults), families, groups and communities, in order to assess health needs and develop and implement packages of care in negotiation with the recipient(s).

2.     Be able to use listening skills and non-directive therapeutic interviewing techniques to encourage behavioural changes and facilitate health enhancing responses.

3.     Keep legible, accurate and contemporary records while maintaining client confidentiality.

4.     Prepare reports appropriate for a range of purposes and readers.

5.     Be able to work collaboratively with other health professionals, statutory agencies and voluntary organisations. Acting as an advocate through liaison, referral and negotiating care. Developing and maintaining inter agency networks.

 

6.     Initiate, participate in and evaluate health promotion activities.
This may include large group work and activities in community locations  (e.g. shopping centres, schools, town halls etc.)

 

7.     Actively promoting community participation and work within a community development framework. Working within multi-agency forum.

8.     Act as a client advocate for vulnerable members of the community who cannot represent themselves. Facilitate their compliance with treatments and attendance at appointments.

  • Can organise and prioritise own work load, assessing pressures of work appropriately
