Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Matron to join our inpatient team within the Learning Disabilities and Autism care group.
LSCFT Learning Disability Inpatient Servies are currently based at Whalley near Clitheroe and this post will support the delivery of this service and the mobilisation and delivery of the new 14 bed inpatient facility (Water meadow View) in Wittingham at the Guild Park site.
As part of the development of Water Meadow View, our new state of the art 14 bed facility for people with learning disabilities and mental ill health you will be a key member of the mobilisation project team and take the lead on specific work streams, recruitment and operating procedure development.
One of the Trusts aims is to deliver the best possible care to our patients and this new inpatient unit will do just that. Water Meadow View will offer clinical excellence, support and safety, with patient-centred care at the heart.
Main duties of the job
LSCFT’s specialist learning disability inpatient services are designed to meet the holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a working environment conducive to staff development and wellbeing.
This post supports the delivery of the inpatient facility and crisis model providing leadership to professional and direct care staff, ensuring that high quality care is delivered to patients on all wars, that staff teams are engaged and compliant with key aspects of workforce management (supervision, training etc) and that patients care plans, and other related documentation is kept continually up to date and accurate.
The post holder will be expected take responsibility for the delivery of key improvement actions required in the service and in preparing for regulator visits to ensure the service is presented in the most positive way.

Matrons must be clinically up to date and creditable/have clinical skills expecting others to perform and be passionate about driving up clinical and professional standards Lead on quality agenda within clinical environment.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse in Learning Disabilities. Degree or demonstrable evidence of study at higher level
- Evidence of CPD and study at higher level
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Sound understanding of contemporary learning disability, physical health and Mental Health national, regional and local strategies.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Senior Nurse role within a inpatient Learning Disability setting.
- Working within a learning disability inpatient setting for a minimum of 2 years in a senior role.
- Worked with people who have a diagnosis of mental illness and behaviours that can present as challenging at times.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Leadership skills, Excellent communicator with an ability to communicate
- Commitment to on-going personal development
- Enthusiasm and the ability to work as part of a management team
