This is a full time post which covers both Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley District Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The key responsibility of the role will be to perform diagnostic testing on all patient groups and provide an effective rehabilitation and on-going maintenance service. 

You will undertake repair clinics,be able to determine and rectify problems, complete necessary documentation to record actions taken and consult with a Senior Audiologist if necessary.

Furthermore you will perform Audiometry and Tympanometry evaluation, including Acoustic Reflex threshold measurements of both adults and children .

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Perform hearing aid repair/ maintenance and provide Aural Rehabilitation advice for adults.

Perform Audiometry and Tympanometry evaluation, including Acoustic Reflex threshold measurements of both adults and children.

Selection, fitting and exchange of  hearing aids/ ear moulds to adults.

Direct GP referral of Hearing aid patients.

Perform more advanced test procedures initially with the guidance of more senior staff.

To record and maintain accurate information on Audiology and Trust recognised systems.

Maintain AHCS registration.

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • BSc or equivalent in Audiology including one-year NHS clinical placement with evidence of clinical competence
  • Registration with AHCS as a Clinical Physiologist with Audiology as a specialism, or application in process.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working or studying within an Audiology department
  • Practical knowledge of utilizing Auditbase &/or Practice Navigator
  • Produce a good working knowledge of BAA/BSA working practices and procedures in diagnostics & rehabilitation.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of programming Oticon hearing aids
