Biomedical Scientist- Part Time

Band 6

Job overview

Struggling with your work/ life balance?  Looking for something part-time? If yes, this job may be perfect for you!

We'd like an enthusiastic and motivated BMS to join our friendly team for a part-time (3 days) Band 6 post at our Multilab at Chorley District Hospital.

To be recruited straight to Band 6, you'll need a Specialist portfolio, those without will be recruited at Band 5. However, we value our staff and fully support their professional development. We are an IBMS approved training laboratory and actively encourage working towards the Specialist Portfolio and moving up to Band 6.

Main duties of the job

Our Multilab is based at Chorley District General Hospital and provides Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry analyses. The site provides specialist Oncology and Orthopaedic services along with routine services.

Our major equipment comprises Sysmex XN and CS  series analysers in the Haematology section and the Roche Pure C303/ E402 combined Chemistry and Immunoassay modules in Biochemistry. Automation in Transfusion is provided by state of the art Diamed IH1000 analysers. The Trust has remote access Haemobank fridges which allows remote electronic issue of blood units.

You will be based at Chorley Hospital, however we encourage working  across sites at both Chorley and Preston hospitals for team-building and competency completion.

Working for our organisation

At Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, we have 10,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients.  Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done.  You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.

You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.
