Specialist Physiotherapist

Band 6

Job overview

If working in a fast paced, exciting environment is for you, then look no further!

Do you want to develop your leadership, respiratory and Neurological Physiotherapy skills whilst working in a regional Neurosurgical Centre? The Neurosciences Integrated Therapy Team is looking for a motivated, caring, skilled Physiotherapist to join them in delivering excellent care to their patients.

The regional Neurosurgery service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is delivered at Royal Preston Hospital in a 61 bedded unit, including a Neuro High Care Unit. An exciting opportunity has come about for a static Physiotherapist to provide increased stability and strengthen leadership within the Neurosciences therapy team. As the successful applicant, you will have skills in managing complex neurologically impaired patients with both physical and respiratory needs. This opportunity will allow you to combine your respiratory and rehabilitation skills to ensure your patient receives a holistic approach.

Main duties of the job

As well as a clinical role in delivering high-quality care to our patients you will also support more junior members of the team and students. You will be given the opportunity to develop your leadership skills by participating in service development with the support of a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist.

You will receive education and training through our Normal Movement and Respiratory Training programmes. You will also play an active role in the provision and future development of this training and other training to the Neurosciences team as well as the wider Core Therapy department.

We pride ourselves in providing the best possible complex neurological care for our patients. We also offer a supportive work environment where you can develop your skills and knowledge and play a key role in the delivery of high-quality health care. There are multiple opportunities for personal and professional development at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. We have a dedicated Health Academy and the learning and development of staff within the trust is very much encouraged and supported.

We are a major trauma centre with our critical care unit accepting our regional neurosurgical and neurology patients at Royal Preston Hospital. You would be welcomed into a fantastic, established, multi-disciplinary team within Neurosurgery.

Working for our organisation

We have 10,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients.  Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done.  You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.

You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.
