Band 5

Trosolwg o'r swydd

Are you about to qualify as an OT and panicking about getting your first job? Already a band 5 but looking for a change of scenery? Then today is your lucky day! We’ve got a vacancies for a Band 5 OT to join our rotation.  We’re really proud of our rotation because alongside your standard areas like medicine, stroke and surgery, we have a number of unique and interesting specialities such as hand therapy, orthotics and neurosurgery.  If that wasn’t enough we’ve also recently added critical care to our rotation. There really is something for everyone.

We’re really lucky that our trust recognises the value of the therapy workforce and the important work we do to improve our patients functional outcomes.  We’re that good that our execs have invested not only in theses OT roles but in our Physio’s and Therapy Support Workers too!

Our Band 5 rotation will give you the opportunity to build on your core OT skills creating solid foundations for the rest of your career. You’ll see the OT process from start to finish and be able to further develop your clinical reasoning. The pace is fast and exciting and we promise there’ll be no time to be bored.

On the daily you’ll be attending board rounds, prioritising patients and completing assessments, treatment and discharge planning to increase patient flow. As OT’s our main aim is to increase our patients functional independence so we love to complete functional assessments which allow us to problem solve and find new ways for our patients to complete day to day tasks on their own. You’ll also be liaising with the multi disciplinary team and working closely with your physiotherapy colleagues and therapy support workers.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

We have 10,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients.  Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done.  You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.

You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.

To be great at this job we think you need good written and verbal communication skills and to be able to demonstrate flexibility and initiative. Excellent interpersonal skills, an aptitude for team working and being able to support the Trusts values and behaviours are pretty high up on our list too.

We get that being a band 5 can be pretty tough so we have lots of things in place to make sure you’ll feel supported including band 5 forum, a buddy system and a comprehensive competency framework. We also understand that university doesn’t prepare you for every bit of your new role so we have in-service training in each individual team as well as Cognitive and Perceptual training each month led by our Occupational Therapy team. This training covers areas such as attention, memory, insight, capacity and challenging behaviour and will provide you with the skills required to manage cognitively impaired patients on your ward.  We are always looking to develop our service and this is something we’d love you to be involved in with our team meetings being a great place for us all to share and expand our ideas.

Like all NHS trusts we recognise the need for enhanced provision and Core Therapies are looking to move towards 7 day working and as such you’ll be expected to support this model of care. We have a variety of work patterns across the rotation with some areas already working 7 days whilst others cover 5 days.

If delivering high quality care and making a personal difference to your patients lives is what makes you tick then come and join our great team!

Please note we are unable to provide relocation packages for overseas applicants.
