Transplant Nurse - Renal Services

We are excited to be in the position to advertise Senior Nurse opportunities with renal services and to provide leadership in key areas.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our senior team as a Transplant Nurse. LTHTR Renal services are the largest centre in the Northwest and is a tertiary centre within a diverse geographical area, with a large transplant program which is not replicated in many other units.
You will be instrumental in ensuring the transplant nursing team and admin support team are adequately resourced, supported and developed to deliver excellent care with compassion in line with the Trust’s Values & Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework. Leading and developing the transplant team by being a visible and strong role model providing leadership and direction to the team, capitalising on research and development opportunities, providing clinical supervision and advice for staff and students to support them in reaching their full potential.
The role will provide the successful candidate with a diverse caseload enabling consolidation of existing knowledge and expansion of skills in the nursing management of patients with kidney disease. The role will involve collaboration with MDT members to ensure high quality care and effective service provision remains.

Our regional Renal service covers 1.6 million people, looking after over 1300 dialysis and transplant patients across a large geographical area including 4 trusts and 6 satellite dialysis units.
To work as an autonomous Clinical Nurse Specialist.
To provide expert advice related to specific conditions or treatment pathways.
Focus on improving patient care and service development
To assess patients holistically, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based care
To provide specialist advice to patient families and carers and the wider multidisciplinary team
To contribute to the development of the workforce through delivering education and training.
To lead service development within the team
To participate in research activity and clinical audits in own specialist area
To work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the cohesive management of patients.
To act as a key worker for designated patients as appropriate across the patient’s pathway

Qualifications & Education

- Appropriate NMC Registration
- Mentorship qualification
- Post Registration Qualifications relevant to the role
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing

- Level 3 ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) or equivalent
- Successful completion of a leadership and development programme equivalent to the Internal Band 6 Leadership and Development programme.
Knowledge & Experience

- Able to perform clinical duties commensurate to that of the role
- In depth experience of working in renal nursing
- Ability to Implement changes within nursing practice
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance and Safeguarding and the relevance of these to practice
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
- Knowledge of ethical issues
- Evidence of clinical competence in area of speciality eg surgery

- Experience of managing a clinical area
- Knowledge of the PDPR Process
- Evidence of working at Band 6
- Experience of budgetary management
