Volunteer - Hospital Radio Liaison

Voluntary Role

Trosolwg o'r swydd

Do you fancy joining us as one of our new liaison volunteers where you will get out and about, chatting with staff and patients about our hospital radio stations and liaising with our presenters to ensure that we play the music our patients want?

Music has been found to have powerful effects on the mental and physical health of patients in hospitals. Studies show that music can reduce stress levels, improve moods, increase energy levels, reduce pain levels and even speed up recovery time from illness or injury.  It’s a powerful tool that can provide comfort, support and motivation – this is something we take really seriously.

We run two Hospital Radio stations here at the Trust, covering both Preston and Chorley Hospitals. We would love some new volunteers to help us ensure that our patients can access our Hospital Radio stations, by getting out and about into our wards and departments to raise our profile, take requests and dedications and help our patients access and interact with our radio stations.

We have a mix of live and pre-recorded shows covering lots of different genres, but we love what we do as its for our patients. Additionally, we would also love to expand our services to interact more with patents by doing quizzes, bingo etc so there is a chance to build the role and help build our radio stations too.

You will have great communication skills, be aged over 18 and have a genuine desire to really help support our patients.

Using your great communication skills, you will get out and about, chatting with staff and patients in our wards and departments to ask them for their requests, dedications and then go back to the studio and liaise with our presenters to ensure that we play the music our patients want.

You will also play a role in ensuring our patients know about our radio stations and how to listen in.  Our programmes are made just for them and we love to hear about our listeners too.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

We have 250 fantastic volunteers working hard to support the services that we deliver to our patients.  As a Trust, we help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

Volunteering with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done.  You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills.

You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care and enhancing their experience which means our volunteers are pivotal and something really to be proud of.
