Medicines Commissioning Technician
NHS AfC: Band 6
Trosolwg o'r swydd
Medicines Optimisation (MO) is a patient-centred approach ensuring patients get the best quality outcome from their medicines. The ICB Medicines Optimisation Team (MOT) supports clinicians to prescribe the right choice of medicine for patients using evidence-based information and guidance.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the MOT to appoint to the post of Medicines Commissioning Technician, working as part of the Fylde coast MOT within L&SC ICB.
The post will consist of agile working which includes working from home and some office-based working. There will also be a requirement to visit provider premises as required. The work pattern is 30 hours ideally split evenly over 5 days but there can be flexibility on days to be worked.

The enthusiastic, confident and motivated individual will support the prescribing leads (Fylde coast) to deliver MO priorities for the ICB and to achieve the objectives for various local and ICB-wide projects.
The person appointed to the role will both support the development of and drive forward innovative medicines projects supporting the day-to-day activities of the pharmacists and providing oversight to technicians at Place.
The successful candidate will possess a high degree of computer literacy including comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to analyse and present information and data in an appropriate format. The post holder will use initiative to manage multiple priorities, meet timescales and work autonomously to prioritise their own workload.
Gweithio i'n sefydliad
The NHS in England spends more than £19 billion on medicines, making this the second largest single expenditure, after workforce.
MO teams within ICBs support local health systems to deliver outcomes that best reflect the specific needs of their populations, optimising the use of medicines to deliver the best results for patients whilst simultaneously tackling health inequalities. L&SC ICB serves a large and diverse population covering over 200 GP practices. Additionally, there are a range of non-medical and independent prescribers that we support to ensure prescribing is appropriate, in line with guidance whilst ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Each Place within L&SC ICB serves a differing population. The transient population and pockets of deprivation within the Fylde coast present a different perspective and bring its unique challenges. This also provides an opportunity to positively contribute and make a difference to the health outcomes for its residents.
