We have the opportunity for Band 7 Highly Specialist  Diabetes Dietitian to join our growing team.

This is a great chance for someone to make a difference to the diabetes care within the Blackpool and Fylde area.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must be competent in level 3 carbohydrate counting and insulin adjustment.

This role will include a range of clinical experiences including : group education, one to one clinics, MDT meetings and more!

 

We are happy to offer up to 100% remote working and a flexible working week, hours are up to 37.5hrs per week.

 

The dietetic department has strong a mentoring and supervision system in place, also has good admin support.

The Dietetic Department sits across 2 sites, with the community team based in St Annes and there is strong working relationship with the acute team at the hospital.

The community team also covers: Home Enteral feeding, nutritional support for adults, local specialist obesity service.

We recommend that all individuals employed in patient facing roles, or those located on a ward or department where patients receive a service should be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role will include a range of clinical experiences including: group education, one to one clinics and  MDT meetings. There will be responsibility for the dietetic input into  diabetes ante-natal and pre-conception service within the role

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc (Hons) Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics / post graduate diploma or equivalent
  • Registration with the HPC
  • Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA)
  • Teaching and training skills eg. clinical supervisory skills/ training for student training/ communication skill training/counselling skills training
  • Experience in specialist field to master’s level or equivalent e.g. PENG qualification
  • Member of relevant specialist interest groups
Desirable criteria
  • Attendance at specialist group meetings of BDA
  • Attendance at relevant multi-disciplinary courses/conferences

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Skilled in the development of nutritional care plans
  • Minimum 3 years post-registration experience, In depth knowledge and experience and competent in level 3 carbohydrate counting and insulin adjustment
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience with student training including supervision
  • Experience of teaching and training
  • Awareness of research methods and audit skills to inform and evaluate practice.
  • In depth knowledge of diabetes
  • Keeps up to date with clinical developments, with evidence of contributions to clinical meetings / journal clubs
  • Knowledge and appreciation of clinical governance issues
