Job overview

Specialty Doctor – LD Psychiatry, Whalley / Chorley (10PA) 

We are seeking to recruit a fixed term Specialty Doctor to join the our LD Service.  This post has arisen due to the transfer of the Individualised Packages of Care (IPC) patients onto our Whalley site and will predominantly support these patients, with also some community work in the Chorley/South Ribble LD team.  The post is full time (10 PAs) and will be split between the Whalley IPC patients and Chorley community LD team. 

Main duties of the job

The Specialty Doctor will work for the 4 IPCs in the peripheral services, Whalley site and provide input on occasion to the 4 Individual Packages of Care (IPC’s) in Whalley. In addition there will be job planned to support community LD team.

The doctor will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, that consists of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Nurse Managers and Nurses in learning disability.

There will be ward work or reviews to complete as part of the day-to-day functioning of the unit, physical health reviews of patients where required and input into professional meetings such as ward rounds, CPA, CTR, Manager or Tribunal hearings.

To be eligible to apply for this post, you must possess at least 3 year’s experience in psychiatry and be fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice. Ideally, you will be Section 12 Approved, or eligible for approval at the time of commencing employment.
