Are you an experienced band 6 midwife looking for a new opportunity?
Here at WWL maternity services, our aim is to develop confident and compassionate practitioners who can make a positive contribution to midwifery practice.
We are looking to recruit midwives with a current interest in working on Delivery Suite, Community, Maternity Ward and Maternity Triage.
Applicants are welcome from NMC registrants who are highly motivated and passionate about providing high quality, evidence based cared. The post holder will work as a member of our team, providing and leading midwifery care to service users and families.
Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive orientation programme and we assure that they will receive appropriate support and development.
Main duties of the job
To provide high quality, safe and evidence based care across all settings; applying knowledge and skills to holistically assess, plan, implement and evaluate care within their scope of practice.
Facilitate informed decision making in all aspects of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.
Establish and maintain effective communication with women and their families.
Work collaboratively within a multi disciplinary team and wider organisations as required.
The post holder is accountable to maintain their own clinical skills and competencies to maintain their NMC registration. The post holder will work within the NMC Code of professional standards, and Trust guidelines and policies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Provide high quality, safe, evidence-based care across all settings, applying knowledge and skills to meet the individual needs of women and families.
Facilitate informed decision making throughout the pregnancy continuum.
Practice within the parameters of Trust policies and guidelines, and within scope of practice.
Work collaboratively within the multi disciplinary team and other agencies when necessary.
Practice autonomously and escalate appropriately.
Manage workload and time effectively.
Establish and maintain effective communication with women and their families.
Encourage health promotion in line with the public health agenda.
Appropriately report incidents in line with the Trust reporting process.
Protect and safeguards women and babies.
Act as a role model and mentor to all grades of staff and students, creating a positive learning environment for all.
Maintain NMC registration through revalidation and compliance with mandatory training and ongoing professional development.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife - NMC
- ENB 997 or other teaching / mentoring qualification or equivalent experience
- Degree in midwifery or equivalent.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Evidence of completion of comprehensive preceptorship programme
Desirable criteria
- NIPE qualification
- NLS qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working as a practising midwife in all areas of midwifery practice
- Effective communicator with excellent written and interpersonal skills
- Can demonstrate evidence of clinical expertise and knowledge acquired through CPD and experience
Desirable criteria
- The ability to work on own initiative
- The ability to manage a team/service and workload
Skills
Essential criteria
- Clear understanding of midwifery issues and an up-to-date knowledge of current NHS developments within maternity services
- Able to deliver a high standard of evidence based individual client care
- Computer literate with sound knowledge of software packages and good keyboard skills
Desirable criteria
- Experience of data collection and compilation of statistics
- Experience of auditing the service
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues
- Evidence of clinical and professional expertise acquired through CPD and experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience of and an understanding of resource management
Additional
Essential criteria
- Flexible and positive approach to work. May be required to work in any area of midwifery practice.
- Enthusiasm/motivation
- Able to travel between sites
- Able to undertake on call duties

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
