REPORTING RADIOGRAPHER POST

WWL are looking for a highly motivated Reporting Radiographer to join the existing Reporting Team to help provide a high-quality plain film reporting service.

The advertised role provides an exciting opportunity for a Radiographer to expand their knowledge and skills, whilst delivering a flexible and efficient patient focused service.

Working pattern can be Monday to Friday or longer hours over four days. This can be discussed, and a bespoke set up agreed that matches service requirements. The current team of reporting radiographers work from home one day a week which will be incorporated into the successful candidates job plan after a period of preceptorship.

The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.

Evidence of qualifications will be requested during interview and compliance stage.

Main duties of the job

The aim is to provide autonomous reports to clinicians with performance regularly audited. Ongoing mentorship and personal development will be available for the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following during application and/or interview:

  • PgCert in MSK Reporting OR Adult Chest Reporting OR MSK Reporting AND Adult Chest Reporting.
  • PgCert in Abdomen Reporting (desirable).
  • The ability to perform at Postgraduate level across all elements of the role.
  • An interest and aptitude in image appraisal and image quality.
  • An understanding and willingness to embrace lifelong learning.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·        To support the reporting service in line with the individual’s agreed scope of practice.

·        To support, monitor and quality assure high standards of general radiographic practice within the directorate.

·        Support the continually evolving reporting service.

·        To keep up to date with Trust information and Departmental policies.

·        To safeguard at all times confidentiality of information relating to patients and staff.

·        To be able to use PACS reporting work stations and its full remit of software to obtain optimal information.

·        Participate in audit to ensure best practice is maintained.

·        Report audit findings at monthly radiology events and learning meetings (REALMs).

Essential criteria
  • Ability to demonstrate and build working relationships with people at all levels within the multidisciplinary teams
  • Sound teaching and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, and reflecting a positive, professional attitude at all times.
  • Caring, sensitive attitude towards patients and staff
  • Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role, i.e. with confidence and accuracy, using correct sentence structures and vocabulary, and without hesitation

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of Relevant Anatomy, Physiology and related Pathology
  • Up to date record of CPD.
  • Competent to train/deliver education to staff of all grades.
  • Sound knowledge of H&S regulation relating to radiation protection including IRMER
  • Knowledge of best practice in radiography technique
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of current professional issues

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Participation in departmental audit and project work
  • Strong analytical and critical reasoning/problem solving.
  • Self-motivated with enthusiasm to develop skills.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Able to cope with distressing or emotional circumstances.
  • Ability to report autonomously yet comfortable to seek radiologist advice when necessary.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience handling difficult and complex situations.
  • Involved in teaching/ supporting junior staff and radiography students.
Desirable criteria
  • Leading a small team of radiographers.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • PgCert in MSK Reporting OR PgCert in Adult Chest Reporting
  • BSc Diagnostic Radiography, DCR or other recognised equivalent qualification
  • HCPC registration
  • Member of the Society of Radiographers or equivalent for indemnity insurance.
Desirable criteria
  • Post qualification experience in MSK and/or Adult Chest Reporting
  • PgCert in Abdominal Radiograph Reporting
  • Examples of post-graduate education.
