Main duties of the job

You will be based at Wrightington Hospital with clinical commitments at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary and Leigh Infirmary. Wrightington is a name familiar to all Orthopaedic Surgeons, following the studies in total hip joint replacement that were carried out by the late Professor Sir John Charnley. We are located 5 miles north west of Wigan, situated just half a mile from junction 27 off the M6 motorway.

Applications are invited for a Lower Limb Arthroplasty Fellowship post at Wrightington Hospital to commence August 2024.

This post is for a duration of 12 months.

These post does not attract a National Training Number (NTN) but do have SAC approval and are aimed at Specialist Registrars who have neared completion of their training and want Fellowship experience in Hip and Knee arthroplasty Surgery.

Please note senior positions may be expected to participate in an on-call rota.

COVID-19 vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course our patients from the virus when working in our healthcare settings. Whilst COVID-19 vaccination is not a condition of employment at this time, we do encourage our staff to get vaccinated. We will be checking the vaccination status of all new starters so that we can manage individual and environmental risks, and so that we can support those who may be undecided about vaccination. If you are unvaccinated there is helpful advice and information available by contacting [email protected] where you can also find out more about how to access vaccinations. There is a current Government consultation underway which will determine whether some new starters may need to be vaccinated.
