Job overview
- The Cancer and Haematology service at UHL serves a population of over 1 million. We have 73 in-patient beds supporting the Oncology, Haematology and Palliative care services based at the Osborne Building at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
- The Haematology Service cares for more than 1,800 inpatients, more than 55,000 outpatients and over 11,000 day case patients each year. There is an onsite Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Haemophilia service and Anticoagulation service.
- The Oncology Service care for nearly 3,000 inpatients, over 30,000 outpatients and almost 13,000 day case and chemotherapy patients.
- A Clinical Trials and Cancer/Haematology Research centre based in the HOPE unit offering access to a wide and diverse number of Clinical trials.
- In addition the Osborne has Macmillan Information and Support Centre and Radiotherapy Department
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Cancer & Haematology Pharmacist to join our friendly team. You will work to provide clinical, technical and prescribing support to Haematology, Oncology, Clinical Trials and Aseptic Services. We are a friendly and dedicated pharmacist and technician team with a passion for delivering excellent patient care.

We are forward thinking about the future and are prospectively in the process of delivering CAR-T and other cellular therapies.
We are dedicated in “Becoming the Best”. Current exciting projects within the Oncology and Haematology service include further improving our patient satisfaction by increasing the number of SACT treatments administered closer to home.
You will be part of an exciting comprehensive training programme for University students and foundation pharmacists. The team is rapidly expanding the role of pharmacist prescribers in SACT. There will be an opportunity to undertake the prescribing course, if you are not currently a prescriber.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will be expected:
- To provide expert pharmaceutical advice to improve patients care both for inpatient and outpatient setting.
- To clinically verify chemotherapy prescriptions and SACT treatments to provide safe, cost effective and evidence based treatments for patients.
- To co-ordinate the management and development of the team delivering specialist clinical pharmacy services to Cancer & Haematology patients.
- To work as an Independent prescriber and prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within scope of practice.

- GPhC registration
- Approaching completion of PG certificate in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent qualification with post-registration experience in pharmacy practice.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
