Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist - Congenital Echocardiography

NHS AfC: Band 7

We are actively promoting flexible working options, helping you to manage a work / life balance

Job overview

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our growing and developing Congenital and Pediatric Cardiac Investigations Department as a Band 7 Highly Specialised Physiologist in Echocardariography.

As a tertiary cardiac level 1 centre, we provide echocardiography support to the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre for both paediatrics at the LRI and Adult Congenital heart Disease at the Glenfield Hospital.

With the relocation of EMCHC to LRI we have a purpose built, state of the art facility, which will form part of the building blocks of the new Children’s Hospital.  Including a brand new echo and pacing suite, theatres and catheter lab with the most up to date equipment, and a new outpatients department.

We are looking to invest in our staff to ensure that we continue to provide an outstanding service to our patients from Leicester and also surrounding counties.

Since the EMCHC move to the LRI as a Cardiac Investigations Department we cover Outpatient and Inpatient activity for both non-invasive and invasive catheter lab procedures and  are currently developing  the rhythm management service .

We are working towards the EACVI departmental accreditation.

Our department has a range of high specification echocardiography machines and analytical software, including Ventripoint.  All of which have strain and 3D capability.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 7 Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist, you will be provided with opportunities to enhance your skills as a clinical practitioner by working within the echo department at both LRI and Glenfield UHL sites.

More specialised training will be provided if required and we are always looking  to develop skills and professionalism and are currently supporting a HSST role in fetal echo.

Working for our organisation

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
