Fixed Term Trust Grade Cellular Pathology ST3+ (12 months)
Applications are invited for an experienced Cellular Pathology doctor to work alongside our existing Specialist Trainees in Cellular Pathology for a fixed term of 12 months. The successful candidate will join the existing consultants and trainees in providing a full and comprehensive Cellular Pathology service across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
This post does not have educational approval but if appropriate, you would be supported to develop your CV towards applying for either a histopathology training number or to complete the CESR pathway.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The focus of this post is to provide the opportunity to experience the clinical service delivery in Cellular Pathology in the hospital setting and also develop strong skills in teaching and clinical governance.
More specifically as part of your direct clinical care (DCC) you will: -
- Work to the standards set by the Cellular Pathology Service described in its policies, protocols and procedures.
- Cut-up and report specimens as required within your areas of specialist practice.
- Contribute to the running of the MDTs and CPCs as appropriate to your areas of practise.
- Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
- Manage your workload to deliver a safe service to patients.

Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration and current licence to practice
- Possess FRCPath part 2 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job
- Subspecialty interest in a suitable area of Pathology.
- Have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training
- Shows aptitude for practical skills required in the job
Communication and relationship skills
Essential criteria
- Good written communication skills (oral to be tested at interview)
- Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Evidence of self-directed learning in developing and maintaining professional skills.
- Knowledge of evidence based Practice.
- Evidence of performing and contributing to clinical audit projects.
Desirable criteria
- Completion of a general management course or programme.
