NHS AfC: Band 6

We are actively promoting flexible working options, helping you to manage a work / life balance

Trosolwg o'r swydd

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic individual to join the altered airway specialist nurse team on a 12 month fixed term contract at University Hospitals of Leicester. We are currently looking for a new altered airway specialist nurse (to include both tracheostomies and laryngectomies) to join our ENT/Head and Neck team. If you are competent and confident in looking after patients with altered airways this could be an exciting opportunity for you.

The team works with patients with both acute and long term airway issues from Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The altered airway specialist nurse along with the lead nurse are responsible for managing both inpatients within the trust with altered airways as well as a caseload of patients living in the community with long term airway needs. A driving license is therefore an essential requirement for the role.

Candidates need to be enthusiastic and motivated nurses with previous tracheostomy/laryngectomy experience. ENT/ Head and Neck experience is desirable. Teaching skills are essential as the altered airway team not only provide teaching to staff but also play a vital role in teaching patients and family members how to care for their altered airways at home.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
