Job overview

We are looking for a Registered Nurse/ODP to join our endoscopy team as a band 6 Deputy Ward Leader at Glenfield Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to develop their leader and managerial skills within a busy and advancing endoscopy unit.

Our endoscopy unit at Glenfield has 3 procedure rooms on the unit and ERCP which has its own procedure room and recovery area within radiology.

We undertake gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, EUS, ERCP, bronchoscopy, EBUS and TOE and work closely with the Bowel Cancer Screening service.

We are looking for an experienced nurse/ODP who is motivated to develop themselves and their skills to support both the service and the staff.

Main duties of the job

  • Visible clinical expertise, leading multidisciplinary teams daily to provide direction, effective and inspirational leadership within their area of responsibility
  • Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based care to patients
  • Co-ordination and supervision of staff involved in all aspects of clinical duties
  • Deputise and manage the clinical area in absence of the Ward Leader
  • Participate in the effective clinical leadership of the team
  • Actively contribute to the improvement of services and quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users and their families
  • Act as a role model, mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students/learners on placement and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff

Working for our organisation

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
