Endoscopy Staff Nurse

NHS AfC: Band 5

AI tools like chatbots and virtual assistants can support you as you complete your application. For example, they can check for spelling or grammar errors, or help you to decide what to include.

But they shouldn’t replace your own responses or be used to write the application for you.

Relying too much on AI can negatively impact your chances of success, because automatically generated answers:

  • might not be specific or relevant enough to address the criteria in the recruitment profile
  • often seem generic and not personalised enough – an AI response won’t show your unique voice and perspective
  • could misrepresent information about you, such as your qualifications, skills and experience

We monitor applications for any behaviour that could create an unfair advantage, and we check all references carefully. You are likely to be tested on your experience at interview, so be honest and make sure all the information in your application is correct.

Job overview

We are looking for dynamic, forward thinking individuals, to join our endoscopy team at the state of the art Endoscopy Unit in the East Midlands at Leicester General Hospital. This is a purpose built endoscopy unit, with 6 procedure rooms, 20 individual pods for patients and training facilities.

This is your chance to help shape the future of endoscopy within UHL. Look at new innovated ways  of working, evolve a centre of excellence for both endoscopy and training, achieve  JAG accreditation, network through East Midlands Endoscopy Group and take part in research and development.

As well as patients, Staff wellbeing is at the centre of everything we do and you will be supported by the senior management team and the endoscopy clinical educators in your role.

We offer plenty of opportunities for progression to senior roles, specialist nurse roles and nurse endoscopists. We can also offer rotational posts between Endoscopy at East Midlands and our acute endoscopy department at Leicester Royal Infirmary with opportunities to spend time at the community endoscopy units and the gastro wards if you so desire.

This is a 7 day service covering the hours of 7.30am until 6.30pm with a rota for staff to stay late if needed and an on call night service covering all 3 UHL units.

If you feel this job is right for you, do not hesitate to apply or contact Abigail Setterfield 07950841133 or Lesley Newton 07950853381 for more info

Main duties of the job

  • Support the Endoscopy Ward Leader and matron to ensure the ward/department environment is safe, clean, comfortable and well maintained in line with patient and public expectations.
  • Ensure that the delivery of care to all patients meet the standards determined by the trust and Jag accreditation. Monitor and act on feedback from patients and service users.
  • Contribute to setting, maintaining and monitoring of standards of care to the optimum level, through benchmarking, audit and research and monitor against BSG and JAG standards.
  • Ensure that self and team members act at all times to provide a personalised service to patients and abide by trust values and standards at all times to promote quality, diversity and rights.

Working for our organisation

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
