Trust Grade Registrar in Haematology
NHS Medical & Dental: Local Appointment nodal point 3 (MT03)
We are actively promoting flexible working options, helping you to manage a work / life balance
Trosolwg o'r swydd
This is a Trust Grade doctor to work alongside our existing Specialist Trainees and the wider team in Haematology.
We will support the acquisition of specialist knowledge, and you will be encouraged to participate in the Educational activities provided. You will also have a Personal and Professional Development Plan with regular appraisals.
This post does not have educational approval but if appropriate, you would be supported to develop your CV towards applying for a haematology training number. It would also suit those who would like some additional experience in haematology, working in a supportive department.
Candidates will preferably possess MRCP (UK) or equivalent. Applicants without MRCP must provide evidence of appropriate knowledge, training and experience, including two years as an SHO with at least 18 months experience in Acute Medicine including 6 months unselected take. Prior experience in haematology is essential, as is prior experience of working in the NHS (at least 12 months).

The post will have a formal induction process to familiarise you with the hospital, department and specialty. If it is appropriate, this will include an introduction to safe laboratory practice and basic diagnostic skills relating to laboratory work such as morphology and interpretation of coagulation tests and blood transfusion medicine. This would be necessary if you are to join the middle grade on-call rota and do not have prior experience in this. Further induction requirements will be assessed on an individual’s previous experience and educational needs.
Clinical and Laboratory
You will have the opportunity to rotate through each of the
specialist areas within the Department. This includes laboratory, haemostasis and thrombosis, and haemato-oncology including stem cell transplant. You will be responsible for the care of in-patients, out-patients and day-cases, under the supervision of appropriate consultants. You will also be responsible for teaching and supervising both CMT and FY trainees working within the team.
If interested, there are opportunities to be involved in undergraduate teaching. You will be expected to take an active part in the audit programme of the Department, and there will be the opportunity to undertake quality improvement projects.
Gweithio i'n sefydliad
Our new strategy, 'Leading in healthcare, trusted in communities' was developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners and is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
- high-quality care for all,
- being a great place to work,
- partnerships for impact, and
- research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
- we are compassionate,
- we are proud,
- we are inclusive, and
- we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
