An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Deputy Team Leader to join the Obstetric and Emergency Theatre Team at The Leicester General Hospital.
The Leicester General Hospital provides a comprehensive Maternity and Emergency service to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The successful applicant may be required to cover other theatre areas as needed. Obstetrics and Emergencies at the LGH is a 24/7 theatre so out of hours work will be required."
Shift patterns:-
- 8-6 (day) Mon-Fri
- 8-6 (weekend) followed by on call overnight
- 8-8 (day) 7 day
- 8-8 (night) 7 day
- 12-10 (Mon- Fri) followed by on call overnight

To be a visible clinical expert, leading on a day to day basis; providing direction and effective and inspirational leadership to all members of the multi disciplinary team within the area of responsibility.

Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of evidence based care to patients.

Leadership and supervision of others carrying out all aspects of the caring process.

Deputise and take charge of the given area regularly in the absence of the Team Leader who has 24hour accountability and responsibility.

Participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the team.

Actively contribute to the improvement of services and the quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users and their families.

Act as a role model, mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff.

Support the Team Leader/Matron to ensure the ward/Department environment is safe, clean, comfortable and well maintained in line with patient and public expectations.

Ensure that the delivery of care to own patients and for all patients when in charge meet the standards determined by the Sister/Charge Nurse/Team Leader.

Ensure that self and team member’s act at all times to provide a personalised service to patients in accordance with agreed standards and promotes quality, diversity and rights.

Contribute to setting, maintaining and monitoring of standards of care to the optimum level and lead the improvement of care, through benchmarking, audit and research.

In the absence of the Team Leader ensure there is adequate support, safe mentorship and supervision of learner nurses and all staff.

Proactively seek feedback on patient and public experience in order to address concerns in a timely manner and build on success.

- Evidence of extensive years post registration experience of which a number of them are in the capacity of Nurse In Charge within the speciality
- Good understanding of quality, safety and risk management
- Demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise

- RGN/ODP – First Level
- Have completed a Practice Assessor preparation day and have recent experience in supporting/assessing learners' practice in the workplace
