Are you an Occupational Therapist looking for a new opportunity or the next step in your career?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will join an exciting rotation between the acute respiratory wards, cardiorespiratory admissions ward and cardiology. They will also get the opportunity to work in vascular, cardiac and thoracic surgery specialties.

Interviews will be face to face.

Main duties of the job

You will manage a caseload of patients with a variety of conditions by completing timely assessments of patients referred to the service and develop individualised treatment plans. You will develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of community services with the aim to facilitate discharge from the acute setting as efficiently and effectively as possible.

As well as your direct clinical role you will get opportunities to deliver training and education to the therapy team and the wider multidisciplinary team. There will be opportunities to supervise staff as well as provide practice placements for Occupational Therapy students. There is also a structured in-service training in place within the team which you will be actively encouraged to be involved in. Service improvement, audits and research is encouraged and you will have the opportunity to be part of the established Therapy Research, Audit and Service Evaluation group (TRASE).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To work with the Band 7 Occupational Therapist to ensure the delivery of Occupational Therapy in the cardiorespiratory team in an efficient and effective way.
  • To increase and consolidate existing clinical knowledge in a specific clinical setting.
  • To develop basic managerial and supervisory skills.
  • To carry a clinical caseload and work to service priorities.
  • To work with patients, carers and their families in a sensitive and professional manner
  • To liaise with other professionals for the benefit of the patient
  • To work with those who may have complex needs including physical, psychological and communication difficulties.
  • To liaise with colleagues/ and work across site if appropriate in order to ensure the provision of a seamless equitable service

Essential criteria
  • Hcpc registration/ OT degree
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical Education course

Communication

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates knowledge of effective team working
  • Demonstrates effective written, verbal and non-verbal communication
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrates Leadership skills

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent significant clinical experience at a minimum of Band 5 level
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in relevant clinical area
