Band 6 Occupational Therapist

NHS AfC: Band 6

We are actively promoting flexible working options, helping you to manage a work / life balance

Job overview

BAND 6 Occupational Therapist - Rapid Assessment and Discharge Team (RADS) - LRI

Permanent Position – Full time position

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Band 6 Occupational Therapists to join our established team of therapists who provide a service to our Emergency Floor and short stay units.

Main duties of the job

The RADS team are responsible for delivering comprehensive assessments for patients in our Emergency Department, Acute Frailty Unit and Admissions Units. You will be working alongside a large Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to prevent unnecessary admissions and enable timely discharges of patients. Furthermore, we are passionate about promoting independence and preventing deconditioning in hospital.

You will assess and treat patients referred to the service, with an aim to facilitate discharge from the acute setting as efficiently and effectively as possible. You will ensure excellent communication with patients, their relatives and carers.

You will have support to develop both your clinical and leadership skills from our Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist and Clinical Team Leader.

Working for our organisation

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
