Head of Diagnostic Performance & Productivity

NHS AfC: Band 8b

We are actively promoting flexible working options, helping you to manage a work / life balance

Job overview

An opportunity has arisen to join University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust, within the fast paced, highly ambitious Elective function as the Head of Diagnostics Productivity.

This role has responsibility for building productivity delivery plans in Diagnostics that will guide the organisation to deliver operational aspirations, underpinning all aspects of Elective and Cancer performance improvement. The role will be key in the oversight and improvement of diagnostic performance in UHL, also working across the LLR system to drive productivity.

If you are currently working within the NHS,  this is a secondment opportunity initially for a minimum of 12 months.  Please seek line management approval to support a secondment prior to applying.  If you have no reckonable NHS service this is a fixed term post for 12 months.

Main duties of the job

As one of the most senior leaders in the function and organisation you will have freedom to act in delivering objectives, have autonomy to develop the role with unlimited opportunity to make a difference and will display the best possible behaviours in line with our values.

You will lead the development and establishment of UHL’s diagnostic productivity plan, ensuring specialty and departmental plans align with the Trust’s values, vision, and mission.  You will use your analytical skills to develop and monitor the implementation of the strategy and agreed performance levels. You will work across and with the clinical specialties to develop and monitor these plans.

Working for our organisation

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
