Band 4 Pharmacy Technician- Wards/Dispensary

NHS AfC: Band 4

We are actively promoting flexible working options, helping you to manage a work / life balance

Job overview

You may be required to work in other designated locations of the Trust as well as your primary base. In particular, flexibility is required across the three main hospital sites (Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital). If your initial location is one of these sites excess travel reimbursement would not apply for a permanent or temporary change of base.

The post will be split across our dispensary and ward services at the Leicester Royal Infirmary site

Main duties of the job

We are looking for progressive and proactive Pharmacy Technicians with strong problem solving skills to join our friendly team. Applicants must be self-motivated, organised, be able to work effectively alone and as part of a team, and will contribute to service development and innovation

The posts will contribute to Medicines Management services across our various wards , particularly focusing on comprehensive and timely medicines reconciliation and safe, effective discharge, ensuring patients get the right medicines at the right time.

You will work in our fast-paced dispensary, supporting medicine supply to a vast number of patients. You will have exposure to trouble-shooting responsibilities and opportunities to broaden problem solving and leadership skills.

Our pharmacy department is undergoing a review of its staffing structure, including expansion and redesign of the team. We are focused on creating more efficient and fulfilling ways of working to improve performance and outcomes.

We are keen to receive applications from candidates working in any pharmacy sector. We welcome applications from Pre-Registration Technicians who are due to qualify in the near future. Successful candidates will be given training in order to fulfil specialist duties for this post.

Working for our organisation

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
