Specialist Pharmacist Renal, Respiratory, Cardiovascular

NHS AfC: Band 7

We are actively promoting flexible working options, helping you to manage a work / life balance

Job overview

Are you passionate about improving and developing the pharmacy service to optimise patient care whilst pursuing your interest in a specified clinical area?

If so, we are looking for passionate, creative, motivated and patient focused pharmacists to join our team. UHL comprises three acute teaching hospitals and is one of the largest Trusts in the country, serving over million residents of Leicestershire and Rutland and providing tertiary services on a national level.

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic pharmacist who wishes to develop clinical and leadership skills and knowledge in a dynamic, progressive and innovative team. Respiratory, Cardiology and Vascular (RCV) Medicines optimisation is at the heart of our interactions with the patients under our care who present with a range of acute and complex cardiorespiratory conditions. We have well established links with our specialist clinical teams and work closely with them to provide support to these patients.

Main duties of the job

  • To participate in the delivery of optimum pharmaceutical care to patients served by the clinical directorate on specified ward(s) / clinics and deliver a level of clinical input commensurate with the grade.
  • Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within scope of practice.
  • Actively pursue audit, research and development within the CMG and the department. Publicise the results of such work through presentations and publications.
  • Assist with the training and development of staff

Working for our organisation

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
