We are actively promoting flexible working options, helping you to manage a work / life balance

Job overview

The East Midlands Planned Care Centre (EMPCC) is a new facility at Leicester General Hospital, designed to play a key role in reducing long waits for treatment.

The EMPCC gives UHL a unique opportunity to transform how we deliver planned care services across the region. Our ambition supports excellence, innovation and patient choice, leading the way regionally and nationally to establish the centre as a benchmark for others.

Crucially, the EMPCC will enable us to continue to deliver planned care even during the busiest periods for the parts of our hospital which focus on urgent and emergency care. This means we expect to see around 100,000 units of patient activity every year, focusing on high volume, low complexity activity. An elective hospital for the future, the EMPCC will deliver high quality care, help us to reduce health inequity and bring care closer to some of our deprived areas.

We are excited to start recruiting for Healthcare Assistants and we would encourage anyone looking for a new challenge, wanting to work in a dynamic team, in brand new, state of the art facilities to embrace this exciting opportunity.

We require a dedicated and enthusiastic workforce committed to leading the way in innovative healthcare. We are assembling a highly motivated team of the very best professionals. If you have got the right commitment, passion and personality with an ambition to work differently to transform elective care we welcome your application

Main duties of the job

We need highly motivated Healthcare Assistants  to join us in this evolving team that will grow and develop over time. EMPCC will deliver activity from General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Ophthamology and ENT services.

The East Midlands Planned Care Centre will see a high volume of patient's per day. It will be a fast paced environment and will require a highly motivated and adaptable candidate.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:

  • Assessing and monitoring patient conditions
  • Working as an effective team member and promoting team and interdisciplinary relationships

Our main priority is to find people with the rights values, behaviours and attitudes that match our own. We are looking for staff who are committed, compassionate, trustworthy, patient orientated with excellent interpersonal and listening skills. If you have a positive attitude and are self motivated, we would like to hear from you.

Working for our organisation

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:
  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
