Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Urology team as a Team Leader

This role will support the Service  Managers with the supervision of waiting list clerical staff daily, undertaking PDR’s and providing training when necessary. To co-ordinate the Team’s workload, making adjustments and reallocating duties to other team members to ensure continuity of service.

The successful candidate will have experience of admin processes within UHL, ideally with experience of HISS, Track It, ERS etc.  

Main duties of the job

To provide information on a range of data as required by the in-patient, day case and diagnotics management team and to assist in accurate booking of theatre lists and pre-asessment appointments , ensuring that patients are seen within local and national access targets.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Service Manager plan staff rotas to ensure continuity of service taking into account leave cover required.
  • To support the Service Manager in the recruitment process.
  • To support the Service Manager with the organisation of the booking of all theatre lists by ensuring the appropriate process are being used and clinics fully utilised.
  • To ensure that the standards of work for theatre preparation  and appointments work are maintained in accordance with Trust and departmental policies and procedures.
  • To assist the 18 week and Cancer patient pathway with the aim of identifying blockages and subsequent areas where patient journeys can be streamlined, e.g. bringing patients appointments forward when necessary.
  • To ensure next-steps are completed for patients on a Cancer pathway, ensuring that patients are seen within local and national access targets, e.g. arranging outpatient appointments/procedures as required.
  • To provide an informative, accurate and courteous telephone enquiry service to health and social professionals.
  • Undertake delegated PADR reviews, monitor and recording of absences and leave etc on the appropriate local or Trust system.
  • To support the Administration Manager and Service Manager with enquiries and complaints information.
  • To monitor the ordering of stationary items through the computerised ordering system and receipting.
  • To ensure effective communication and dissemination of information to team by attending regular identified meetings.
  • To work with the Administration Manager and Service Manager in the monitoring of performance in line with in-patient / day case performance plans and targets.
