The CYP Mental Health Liaison team are a new service that went live in March 2023 working closely CAMHS Crisis and enhanced treatment service (CCETT) and the CYP Eating Disorder Service! 

The role of the team is to support children and young people (CYP) accessing our medical areas at the hospital, including A&E, paediatrics, and the hospital wards at Lincoln County hospital (LCH) and Pilgrim hospital Boston. (PHB) with a priority of timely face to face assessments as well as well as supporting YP admitted to a ward with a mental health need. We are also building links with ULHT teams with a view to improved joint working and mental health training to their staff.

We are looking for Band 6's or experienced Band 5's to join the team. The Band 5 development role will be based with CCETT teams in Boston or Grantham in the day and work closely with adult MH liaison team being based with them at Pilgrim Hospital at night. Shifts will be 08.00am-20:00pm and 19:30pm-7.30am.

You will work closely with ULHT, CAMHS and other providers to ensure CYP have quick access to mental health triage, support, and assessment to allow signposting for follow up and discharge home. You will be expected to be able to travel across the county at times to support other areas of the service, although we do also use virtual and phone options for supporting CYP in areas across the county as the situation and risk allows.

  • To provide a high standard of specialist clinical care to children and young people,  providing safe and effective evidence based treatment within defined clinical pathways.
  • To provide support via liaison, consultation and training to universal services including the provision of a professional advice telephone line. 
  • To provide, assessment planning, and implementation of care and monitor effectiveness of interventions to children and young people presenting with mental health difficulties, including vulnerable groups. Care Co-ordination under supervision of line manager.
  • Provide group and individual therapy.
  • Provide rapid response to CYP presenting with urgent and emergency mental health presentations- including mental health and eating disorder/disordered eating presentations.
  • Respond to referrals within one hour, triage/assess within 4 hours- Utilise methods available such as phones, Microsoft teams or face to face depending on the location, presentation of CYP and team resources.
  • To provide a high standard of clinical care ensuring safe and effective assessment, treatment and comprehensive discharge planning using highly developed clinical reasoning skills and appropriate assessment tools.

Qualifications

  • • RMN/ RNLD/Social Worker/Occupational Therapist with current registration
  • • Or RN/RSCN with CAMHS diploma

Experience

  • • Relevant experience of working with people with mental health needs, including severe and enduring mental ill health.
