Job overview

We are excited to offer a permanent opportunity for a motivated Physiotherapist to join the Community Learning disability east team, covering the areas of Boston, Skegness and Louth. This post provides the opportunity for someone with post qualification experience or a newly qualified, who has an interest in working with adults with learning disabilities and complex health needs. 

Within this role you will work as part of a well-established multi-disciplinary team, offering a range of specialist health interventions to people with a learning disability within their place of normal residence, respite and day care placements.

Main duties of the job

You will support the provision of Physiotherapy for adults with Learning Disabilities across 3 core pathways: mental health, positive behaviour support and physical health pathway.

The role includes clinical assessment, care planning and appropriate clinical decision-making skills. Being a compassionate, organised, team player with excellent communication skills and effective time management skills are key, as well as being accountable for your own caseload management and being able to identify Physiotherapy interventions which you will joint work with staff within the team to deliver. Enthusiasm and motivation are just as important as your experience for this role, as full training can be provided for a successful applicant with the relevant qualifications. 

  • Base can be negotiated for a period of 12 months.
  • Relocation package can be considered.
  • Band 5-6 development post.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide Physiotherapy assessments and intervention for people with Learning disabilities and complex health needs, including 24 hour postural management, mobility, falls, community based respiratory and rehabilitation from acute injuries and / or conditions. To provide specialist equipment, including sleep systems, specialist standing frames, walking aids and guidance for supportive seating. To provide support for specialist moving and handling techniques. To offer support to assistants and support workers within the team.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc Hons in Physiotherapy or post graduate diploma in Physiotherapy.
  • HCPC registered Physiotherapist
Desirable criteria
  • Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • CPD evidence

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working in a healthcare provider organisation as a physiotherapist (or student placement)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with Adults with Learning disabilities.
  • Experience of working as a qualified Physiotherapist

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Clinical reasoning skills.
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written skills alone with clear logical presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of clinical/risk assessment and understanding of Information Governance principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collectively.
Desirable criteria
  • Supervision of junior staff.
  • Experience of completing mobility assessments
  • Experience of completing initial assessments and risk assessments.
