The Fens has a new and exciting opportunity for a keen, enthusiastic and experienced Senior Healthcare Support Worker. We are looking to recruit an experienced Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker who holds pride in providing outstanding and compassionate care towards patients within our service.

This is an exciting and challenging role which will afford the successful candidate to work as part of a supportive team that is focused on delivering high standards of care through evidence-based practice.
The Fens provides assessment and intervention for men with severe and enduring mental ill-health in a locked environment to support their ongoing recovery and social integration. The whole service is focused on working towards independence and recovery to enable service users to regain health and mental wellness in order to live well in the community.

Main duties of the job
Working collaboratively with the nursing team to provide a high standard of care to the patients, ensuing their voices are heard and their care is person centered.
Escortig patients to appointments and visits
Spending 1:1 therapeutic time with the pateints
To work within the policies, protocols and clinical procedures of Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust and to promote competent working practice within an integrated multi-disciplinary team.
To liaise with the nurses, and carry out assigned duties as a member of the multi- disciplinary mental health team.
To be prepared to work on own initiative as necessary and report to the Nurses
Demonstrate an awareness of service user and carer perspectives on the provision of treatment and continuing care
Attend in-service training and other study / refresher days to meet individual, statutory and service needs
To work with service users to promote independence, maximising daily living skills
Assist in maintaining general and specific patient observations under the supervision of registered nursing staff
Facilitate and participate in recreational and physical activities in the provision of health and social care to service users.
Always act in a manner as to promote and safeguard the interests and well-being of patients
Actively promote a responsible caring attitude at all times, treating all patients with dignity and respect
Always act in a manner that ensures no patient is the subject of any form of abuse and report abuse

Demonstrate an awareness of service user and carer perspectives on the provision of treatment and continuing care.
Participate regularly in clinical supervision sessions.
Liaise with representatives from associated voluntary and statutory organisations and facilitate good communication processes.
Attend in-service training and other study / refresher days to meet individual, statutory and service needs.
Participate in performance reviews.
To work with service users to promote independence, maximising daily living skills.
Assist in maintaining general and specific patient observations under the supervision of registered nursing staff.
Facilitate and participate in recreational and physical activities in the provision of health and social care to service users.
Demonstrate an understanding of the responsibilities in relation to patients’ property and valuables, respecting cultural values.
Always act in a manner as to promote and safeguard the interests and well-being of patients.
Actively promote a responsible caring attitude at all times, treating all patients with dignity and respect.
To report any incident which does not comply with Trust policy regarding incident reporting.
Participate in the escorting of patients as per the Unit procedures.
Accompany patients and participate, as needed, in recreational activities.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Cavendish Care Certificate or willingness to work towards resourced by LPFT
- NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent
- NVQ level 3 in Promoting Independence or equivalent or working towards achievement.
Desirable criteria
- Certificate in Community Mental Health
- ECDL
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous relevant experience working with people with mental health problems at a HCSW grade or equivalent within a health and social care setting.
Desirable criteria
- Voluntary or working capacity with mental health service or equivalent
Skills
Essential criteria
- A patient and empathic approach.
- Effective communication with service user, other members of the team and outside agencies.
- Clear accurate clinical note keeping
- Skills related to Physical healthcare interventions such as urine analysis, phlebotomy, TPR and BP etc, recording findings and informing supervising nurse of results
- IT skills
- De-escalation Skills.
- Planning and organisation skills.

- Immediate life support
- Venepuncture
