Lead Pharmacist High Cost Drugs and Procurement

Are you a highly motivated and dynamic pharmacist with clinical and hospital procurement experience seeking a new challenge?
 
As Lead Pharmacist for High-Cost Drugs and Procurement you must possess the vision, energy, enthusiasm and influencing skills to manage the challenges posed by financial constraints, close scrutiny of drug use and supply chain difficulties. The ability to engage, motivate and closely collaborate with medical, nursing and pharmacy colleagues across primary and secondary care will be essential to ensure high-cost drugs and stock control is managed appropriately.
 
You will be efficient, organised, innovative, resourceful, and a good team worker, interacting with a variety of people whilst acting as an autonomous practitioner whilst leading a team in the delivery of high quality clinical and directorate related pharmacy services.

Ideally having experience of project management and improvement methodology, you will have the opportunity to develop your business and analytical skills and produce financial reports.

Working in a fast-paced environment, operating to key deadlines whilst delivering quality results through a well-managed team, you will have a unique opportunity to enhance your skills and make a genuine contribution within a commercially oriented and innovative NHS organisation.

This is a secondment opportunity, 37.5 hours per week fixed for 12 months commencing on 02/09/2024

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

To develop and lead whole hospital wide procurement of medicine and any issues relating to medicine including Non-Formulary medicines.
• To oversee high level medicines expenditure and undertake regular reporting to any relevant meetings and groups to keep them abreast of medicines expenditure trends and forecast reports against projected spend and savings.
• To develop through close collaboration with the Assistant Chief Pharmacist (Business and Operations) improved links between the Trust and its Commissioners and Primary Care partners to ensure that strong working relationships are developed and maintained with regard to medicines.
• Contribute to the Pharmacy Management Group agenda, to help develop a strategic vision and delivery plan for the Pharmacy Department.
• To contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance, controls ensuring compliance with medicines legislation.
• To provide expert clinical advice and support on pharmaceutical matters in a specialist area, acting as a role model in clinical pharmacy practice.
• To lead and develop audit and research with in own specialist areas.
• To ensure there are rational prescribing protocols in place that facilitate all high cost drugs being started, reviewed, continued and discontinued against set criteria
