An exciting opportunity has arisen for an appropriately qualified, engaging and enthusiastic individual to join our well established and passionate Reducing Restrictive Practice Team.
This is a Developmental Band 4 post or Band 5 for Registered Healthcare Professionals.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual who can work as an effective team member, demonstrate good personal communication skills and actively promote excellent team and interdisciplinary relationships.
The successful applicant will gain expertise in the field of of reducing restrictive practices and will have a drive to support our patients, and staff, in the promotion of human rights and the ethos of ensuring the use of least restrictive practice.

Main duties of the job

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- To commence as Band 5: Registered Healthcare Professional
- To commence as Band 4: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in health and social care or Senior Healthcare Support Worker Qualification or equivalent
- Hold or Willingness to Work Toward GSA Instructor Qualification
- Hold or Willingness to Work Toward a First Aid Qualification
- Hold or Willingness to Work Toward a Teaching Qualification
Desirable criteria
- Grade A GSA Qualification
- Teaching Qualification
- First Aid Qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- All Instructors must be willing to work towards BILD Senior Trainer Certification.
- Minimum of two years’ experience of working with mental health needs and a good understanding of mental health and behavioural issues
- Demonstrate supportive and sensitive communication skills
- Understanding of Information Governance principles
- Excellent interpersonal skills

- Teaching Experience

Essential criteria
- Knowledge of the national agenda for mental health
- Knowledge of the RRN Training Standards and BILD ACT scheme.
- Knowledge of the national drivers of the reducing restrictive practice agenda
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly motivated to support a reduction in a restrictive practice agenda to improve patient and staff outcomes
- Ability to work independently and collectively
- Ability to work autonomously and use own initiative
- Willingness to develop, achieve and maintain relevant skills and qualifications.
- Good understanding of mental health / behavioural issues
- Ability to embrace and adapt to new challenges
- Ability to support patients and team members
- IT skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
Special Requirements
Essential criteria
- Must be able to travel independently throughout the county without the use of public transport.
- Must demonstrate an ethos of the adoption of Human Rights and least restrictive practice.
- Must demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of debrief and reflective practice.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
