Job overview

An exciting opportunity has risen in Barking & Dagenham Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service for a Service Delivery Manager. This is a new role in the team following new investment and restructuring within the service. The post holder will assist and support the Head of Service, Clinical Leads and Assistant Director of Children services in the smooth running of the service whilst pro-actively resolving day-to-day A&C management issues within the Service/s.

The post holder will assist in the implementation of effective processes and procedures to monitor and track performance within the Service against the Performance Contract. They will contribute to team activity reports and annual KPI reports.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will

Assist in collating and delivering monthly KPI’s.

Support clinicians in resolving issues where agreed performance is not being met.

Collate, analyse and act on data to ensure balanced demand and capacity modelling, proactively managing adverse situations.

Ensure proactive management of patient pathway issues to ensure all national targets are met, for example, 18 weeks, and coordinate and manage processes through teams to ensure compliance.

Be responsible for the compliance, accuracy and maintenance of both local service data systems and the service’s performance with the Trust wide information system such as Rio.

 Ensure the accuracy of performance reports and efficient management of the patient caseload by use of this report in conjunction with the Rio waiting list.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary  period or currently a bank member of staff). 

High Cost Area Supplement - London

This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Act as a facilitator in order to manage relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and across organisational boundaries.
  • Develop and maintain effective and appropriate communication forums and networks with the A&C team across multi-sites, as well as with other relevant professionals as required.
  • Ensure robust systems are in place to manage actively all aspects of the waiting list process.
  •  Ensure the A&C team is meeting all aspects of the waiting lists policy and strive to ensure that patient experiences are “good” or better.
  • Work in conjunction with the relevant management team members in supporting service changes based upon findings of audit, review groups, focus groups, storytelling and surveys, as well as own findings.
  • Day-to-day managerial and leadership responsibility for all A&C grades within the service.
  • Develop team morale and motivation through effective personal leadership, ensuring views and decisions are communicated both up and down the management structure.
  • Contribute to workforce plans which anticipate service changes and developments and which address recruitment, retention and workforce supply issues.
  •   Set objectives and review performance of A&C staff, identifying individual training and development needs and promote continued personal and professional development.
  • Manage sickness, disciplinary and performance issues in line with Trust policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Trust policies and standing financial instructions.
  • Work with the Head of Service, Clinical Leads and Assistant Director to identify changes to budgets as required.
  • Assist  with identifying costs pressures, service development and cost improvement plans, develop business cases to meet requirements.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in IT skills and running reports
  • Experience in managing and supervising others
  • Experience in a management role
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using RIO EPR systems

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Managing KPI’s.
  • Understanding pf RTT/ PTL validation and wait times.

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, Power point, Access Electronic diary, email and office management systems
  • Knowledge of contracts and SLA’s
  • Understands the concept of Governance and the data Protection Act.
