Qualifications needed:

 

·       Full GMC registration with a licence to practice

·       CCT or equivalent

·       Inclusion in, or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCST

·       At least 2 years’ experience in Community Child Health.

We are currently recruiting to a Community Consultant Paediatrician position in the Barking and Dagenham Specialist Children Service, based at the Child and Family Health Centre, 79 Axe Street, Barking, IG11 7L.

 

This is a new, substantive, full-time post. This post is currently vacant, and we wish to recruit to it as soon as possible.

 

You will join another 4wte Consultant Paediatricians, 1wte Specialist Grade Doctor, 2wte Specialty Doctors, and 2wte Core/GP Trainees within the service, and will have the opportunity to influence future direction, treatment, and models of design in the area in which you work.

Barking & Dagenham has extremely good transport links to central London and eastwards to Essex and Kent. In terms of public transport, the borough is served by a good local bus network as well as National Rail/C2C (Barking), the District Line (Barking, Upney, Becontree, Dagenham Heathway, Dagenham East), the London Overground (Barking & Barking Riverside) and the new Elizabeth Line (Chadwell Heath).

You will be expected to:

·       Work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing care to babies, children and young people across Barking & Dagenham.

·       Provide senior medical support and guidance to the team

·       Work directly with babies, children and young people, and their families and liaise as appropriate with other external health providers and acute hospitals

·       Participate in the local Child Protection rota

·       Support your peers and team leader, and be an effective team member whilst allowing them to work with their own initiative

·       Work alongside 4wte Consultant Paediatricians, 1wte Specialist Grade Doctor, 2wte Specialty Doctors, and 2wte Core/GP Trainees within the service

·       Commit to collaborative working, actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals, and agencies.
