Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to work within our busy Anti-Coagulant service at Barnet Hospital. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and be able to work independently, as part of team and will lead on the digitisation of the service. Attention to detail and the ability to work to strict quality and performance deadlines is an essential. The successful candidate is required to be able to demonstrate Trust values, and meet the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the smooth running of the administrative function of the anticoagulation service
  • To manage and monitor the workflow within the department
  •  To allocate duties as the needs of their service dictates
  • To develop new processes and procedures as appropriate
  • To provide support to the Nurse Consultant to arrange study dates etc.

Education and professional qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RSA 2 or RSA 3 word processing/typing or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Courses / further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working with the public and/or patients in a healthcare environment
  • Experience of interaction with all levels of staff
  • Previous administrative and organisational experience
  • Experience of dealing with non-routine and complex problems
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing and prioritising own workload and working to deadlines

Skills and aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent customer care practice, being polite, sympathetic, patient and diplomatic
  • Understanding patient confidentiality
