Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated neonatal nurse to come and join the team at the Barnet Hospital site as the Matron for the Local Neonatal Unit. The unit is a busy Level 2 LNU, with a capacity of 30 cots (including 10 Individualised Care Rooms), with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of nursing, medical and allied health professionals. The family integrated care model is embedded in our daily practice and we have achieved Stage 3 of the Unicef Baby Friendly Initiative.
Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential in this role as well as experience of creating successful partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and in the management of Human Resources. The successful applicant must have high-level people management skills, including decision-making, negotiating, influencing and persuading skills.
The post holder will provide a highly visible, accessible and authoritative presence and be available to patients, families and staff to provide assistance, advice and support and address any concerns as required. The successful individual will contribute to the strategic direction of the service and specialities through meeting key performance indicators and national and local activity targets.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead on the daily operations of the service, managing resources appropriately and mitigating risks as needed.
