Job overview

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer the appointment of a full time (10PA) Consultant Rheumatologist position. This is a new post which is principally based at Barnet General and Chase Farm Hospitals.

 

Main duties of the job

It offers an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to join a committed and established team of 6 consultants (across Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals) which is well supported by 4 specialist nurses, 1 extended scope physiotherapist and 1 IMT3 junior doctor.

This post consists of 5 Rheumatology clinics per week at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals. There is no General Medical on call commitment although the applicant will be running a weekly new Hot Clinic meant for Acute Rheumatological emergencies linked to our Acute Admissions Unit (AAU) along with weekly inpatient Rheumatology cover.

Education & professional Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Registered with the GMC and within 6 months (at the scheduled time of the appointments committee) of being accepted for the specialist register
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Postgraduate medical degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)

Others

Essential criteria
  • Member of Medical Defence organisation.

Experience / Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Clinical training and experience as required to gain entry to the UK Certificate of Completed Training (CCT) in Rheumatology
  • Broad experience in general internal medicine
  • Experience of and commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
  • Experience of and commitment to medical audit.
Desirable criteria
  • Current ALS provider
