Job overview
We are pleased to invite applications for a full time Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust with a subspecialty interest in trauma surgery and lower limb arthroplasty. The successful candidate will be expected to work across the trusts main sites (Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital and Royal Free Hospital).
This post will join and complement the existing group of orthopaedic surgeons who have a wide range of interests in elective surgery and orthopaedic trauma with an aim to expand and develop these services. The successful candidate will be expected to work primarily in orthopaedic trauma and there will be provision for undertaking lower limb elective inpatient, day case surgery and elective clinics. The nature of the working week may vary according to the needs of the Trust

- Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values
Education & professional Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Completion of higher specialist training in Orthopaedics
- Fellowship of the Royal College or other equivalent postgraduate qualification/degree
- Full GMC registration (with a licence to practice)
Experience / Knowledge
Essential criteria
- High level of expertise in independently managing complex Orthopaedics problems
- Experience working in busy outpatient and A&E settings
- Experience of working with adult and paediatric Orthopaedic care
- Training in clinical supervision as defined by the GMC
- Experience in devising conducting and participating in audits
- Research experience in designated sub-specialty
- High degree of clinical and surgical skills
- The authority, decision-making skills etc needed to lead a multidisciplinary team in a complex environment
- Awareness and understanding of health, safety and security issues for self and others
- Strong teaching and presentations skills and experience
- Ability to supervise the clinical work of doctors in training and other staff
Desirable criteria
- Training in educational supervision as defined by the GMC
- Post-CCT Fellowship Skills and aptitudes
