The post-holder will deliver, develop and support the clinical pharmacy services in a variety of different specialties within Barnet and Chase Farm pharmacy departments on a rotational basis. This in accordance with priorities agreed by the lead pharmacist for the specialist area and the clinical site lead pharmacist. 

The post holder will successfully meet set competencies designed to develop the qualities, skills and knowledge expected to move to a Band 7. Length of competency training will be dependent on what qualification/ experience the staff member has achieved already but the following would be expected to be met within 12-24 months for newly qualified pharmacists:

·         Completion of Trust appraisal process as satisfactory

·         Completion/approaching completion of PGCert GPP or equivalent

·         Completion of portfolio review against the Foundation Pharmacist Framework

·         To deliver a presentation as part of the departmental teaching programme

·         To deliver a presentation as part of the Trainee Pharmacist teaching programme

·         Contribution to service development i.e. i.e., completion of either an audit, service evaluation, quality improvement project or development of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

This role is open to pharmacists that have nearly completed the PGCert (recruited as a B7), and also those that are  yet to start or are progressing with this qualification (recruited as a B6).

The Pharmacy Department is a busy but friendly, progressive and expanding unit, which is dedicated to providing World Class standards of pharmaceutical care to all of our patients. Pharmacy Services incorporate the use of robotic automation and other cutting edge technologies. We practice near patient dispensing throughout the majority of the hospital and have transcribers, independent prescribers and accuracy checking technicians within our highly skilled clinical teams.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward thinking pharmacist to join our Clinical Pharmacy team. The post holder will be expected to promote the safe, cost effective and rational use of drug therapy to provide optimal pharmaceutical care to all of our patients, their families and carers. They will work with the multi-disciplinary team to support and improve patient flow by participation in multidisciplinary ward rounds, review of complex medication regimens, drug history taking, drug interaction monitoring, efficient drug supply and discharge planning.

They will also supply regular and detailed information and assistance to the Division in relation to clinical and financial aspects of drug prescribing and use.

Specialist rotations include Critical Care, Paediatrics, and Acute Admissions, Care of the Elderly, General Medicine, Surgery, Patient, Cardiology, Respiratory and Clinical Services.

This is a full time post, with evening, weekend, Bank Holiday and on-call duties pro rata.

Quality improvement and cost-effective, safe use of medicines is at the forefront of everything we do. We have over 300 staff working across the 3 sites in all areas of pharmacy.  Pharmacy staff work across areas such as dispensary, stores, wards, outpatient clinics, satellite pharmacies, technical services, clinical trials, medicines advice service and QC.
