We are seeking an experienced, ambitious, driven, skilled and compassionate leader who can lead, motivate and engage our staff as they strive to provide exceptional standards of patient care. The successful candidate will use their experience, skills and knowledge of performance challenges and standards for an acute hospital and will enable us to deliver safe, effective and responsive services. The Site Director of Operations is responsible for providing strong and robust leadership to senior management ensuring that effective management and performance systems are in place and operational.
We’re looking for somebody with a proven track record in delivering, high quality, cost-effective services in a large complex organisation. You will have worked at a senior level within acute services. You’ll be an integral member of the Site Executive team, working alongside others who champion the King’s values every day and who are committed to providing outstanding care to our patients whilst looking after our staff.
This post will be primarily based at the Princess Royal University Hospital, however, the role will require cross-site working within all five sites for King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
This post will manage Care Group Clinical Directors and other senior colleagues, ensuring that they feel well supported, engaged and clear about objectives and activity plans. You’ll be responsible for the annual site demand and capacity planning working with other Directors to review planning across the group and wider system.
Working as part of the Site Executive team and reporting directly to the Site Chief Executive, this post will be expected to provide expert advice to colleagues on all appropriate operational issues, ensuring the achievement of NHS constitutional standards, whilst ensuring the safe provision of high quality patient focused services, in particular ED performance, RTT18 weeks delivery and Cancer related service pathways.
You’ll manage the day to day operation and performance of the site ensuring cohesive and collaborative working and optimum use of resource to provide the best care for our patients. Working with colleagues to develop clearly defined clinical and business management frameworks which can be used to improve performance across the site.
The postholder will work with both internal and external stakeholders, including other Acute Trusts, CCG’s, ICS and wider systems within Bromley.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree standard or equivalent
- Evidence of continuing professional development and management education (e.g. Diploma, Master’s Degree)
Desirable criteria
- Project management experience
- Prince 2
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience, expertise and understanding of performance and change management, business planning, budget setting and contracting processes, in an acute healthcare setting
- A record of significant achievement in directing and managing the delivery and improvement of services within an organisation of comparable size and complexity.
- Broad experience of leading large teams of professional staff within a performance management culture
- Experience of analysing the business environment and of developing strategies to meet changing organisational needs.
- Experience of inter-agency working and the development of joint projects.
- Expertise and understanding the issues facing the NHS.

Essential criteria
- Effectiveness in conflict resolution and management
- The ability to analyse complex issues, to think and plan to achieve both tactical and strategic objectives and to exercise sound judgement in the face of conflicting pressures.
- The ability to work in partnership with lead clinicians and health care professionals within and outside the Trust and a partnership approach to working across organisations

- The ability to identify, define, promote, communicate and achieve clear organisational values and goals, effective management processes and rational & timely decision making.
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
