A very exciting opportunity has arisen to join Bromley CAMHS, Generic team at a time of change. We are initiating a whole service improvement to the patient journey, enabling children and families to access help earlier and enabling staff to have job plans better tailored to their expertise and development.

As a result of significant investment in Bromley CAMHS and to support the Transformation of the service, we have vacancy for a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.

The post holder will offer assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention for children and young people (CYP) within the Generic pathway. The successful applicant will have experience using evidence-based interventions and experience of working with children and young people in a mental health setting.

The post holder will be required to utilise specialist therapy skills to deliver both individual and group interventions, adapted flexibly and creatively for CYP with mental needs. The role also involves providing consultation, support and training to colleagues within and external to the service. This post offers great potential for the candidate to pursue specialist interests and develop skills, including opportunities for trainings relevant to the field and to contribute to further development of evidence-based pathways for CYP within Bromley CAMHS.

Oxleas offers a wide range of NHS healthcare services to people in community and secure environment settings. Our services include community health care such as district nursing and speech and language therapy, care for people with learning disabilities and mental health care such as psychiatry, nursing and therapies. Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

The post holder will provide a psychoanalytic psychotherapeutic service for children, young people and their families who present with complex mental health difficulties. The post holder will provide assessment, brief, medium and long-term psychotherapy treatment to children and adolescents up to the age of 18 and offer consultation, advice and training (where appropriate) to other professionals involved in the young person’s care. The post holder will also provide care coordination to children and young people within the team and contribute to initial assessments and the Duty rota within the service. 

  • To provide efficient, effective, comprehensive, and highly specialist child and adolescent psychoanalytical psychotherapy assessment and brief, medium and long-term treatment for children and adolescents with severe, highly complex and persistent mental health problems, their carers/parents and families.
  • To provide highly specialist supervision and consultation for multi-disciplinary staff within Bromley CAMHS and to staff of related agencies (health, education, social care, voluntary sector, and youth criminal justice system.)
  • To undertake clinical audit, research and evaluation and to contribute to the development of child psychotherapy as required.
  • To work autonomously within the overall framework of CAMHS and trust policies and procedures.
  • To provide in depth risk-assessments of young people who are a risk to themselves / and or others and to be able to formulate short-term crisis planning, (which may involve some outreach working), in order to provide support that will enable the young person to engage with on-going treatment at a later stage.
  • To contribute, as required, to the process of care planning for young people referred within the Team and to manage a complex caseload as care coordinator working within a multi-disciplinary team which includes: psychiatry, psychology, child psychotherapy, nursing, family therapy and social work.
