Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for an 6 month fixed term contract post to join the Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist team in Chelsea. The post will focus on the holistic care of patients with secondary breast cancer. If you have experience nursing breast oncology patients on treatment  or clinical nurse specialist experience in the advanced cancer setting this post will be an excellent opportunity for you. The successful candidate will join an established friendly team of nurses who work closely with ANP's, the medical and research nursing teams. Please call us for more information. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi disciplinary team and service users related to the speciality. In addition, the post holder will be required to liaise with their peers across the Trust , the divisional management team and appropriate corporate directorates and teams. The post holder will be expected to liaise with colleagues external to the Trust and national networks as appropriate to the speciality.

- To sustain a high quality specialist service for the patient, from diagnosis through all stages of the 
disease and actively provide optimum liaison and continuity of care. 
- To use advanced clinical judgement to plan, implement and evaluate care for patients throughout 
their cancer pathway The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust Job application: Clinical Nurse

- In collaboration with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialists, to formulate and/or revise relevant 
policies and to regularly review these following change/implementation. To work within the 
procedures and policies of the Trust. 
- In conjunction with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialists, to develop assessment tools that will 
ensure an appropriate level of nursing intervention so that patients with complex needs are 
referred to the appropriate specialist/s.

Education

Essential criteria
  • Registration
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification in oncology or speciality
  • Diploma or Degree level study (or equivalent)
  • Recognised teaching qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Sufficient post registration nursing experience in oncology or speciality to be confident and competent in using the required skills to do the job
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Clinical Management
  • Evidence of relevant teaching experience Knowledge and understanding of clinical trials management
