We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive Senior Marketing Manager to deliver best in class marketing and communications that will engage staff, patients and partners and position The Royal Marsden as a world-leading cancer centre of excellence.  
The Senior Marketing Manager will support the Head of Marketing to deliver the Trust marketing programme and contribute towards the development of The Royal Marsden brand in line with the hospital’s strategic priorities.
Key skills include campaign planning and management, creative management, agency working, stakeholder engagement, events, team development and budgeting, 
Based in Chelsea, with travel to Sutton required, this role sits within the marketing team and is a dedicated Trust role which supports The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, The Royal Marsden School, RM Partners and the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Marketing Manager will support the Head of Marketing to deliver the Trust marketing programme and contribute towards the development of The Royal Marsden brand in line with the hospital’s strategic priorities.

This role sits within Marketing and Communications which supports three main business areas - the Trust, Private Care and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. This role will sit within the marketing team and is a dedicated Trust role which supports The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, The Royal Marsden School, RM Partners and the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Marketing related Degree or CIM qualification
  • Experience at managing at a senior level

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Marketing and communications experience – no less than five years full time employment at a senior role within healthcare organisation, national charity, blue chip company or FMCG background
  • To have experience of developing and implementing marketing strategy
  • To have experience of leading and developing a brand strategy across an organisation
  • To have experience of writing, presenting and driving business cases though a senior team
  • To have at least four years managing and developing a marketing team with at least one direct report
  • To have managed a variety of third party agencies, including agency pitch, selection and appointment
  • Proven track record of leading marketing programmes and campaigns – from initial brief to implementation and review
  • Proven track record specifically of direct mail, though the line marketing and brand management
  • Experience in all elements of the marketing mix – including media (ABL), direct and digital channels
  • Experience of both business to consumer and business to business marketing
  • Experience of working across complex organisations – communicating with multidisciplinary teams and matrix management
  • Management, forecasting and control of budgets and being able to deliver high profile campaigns on challenging budgets
  • To have represented Directors and Senior Management at panels and meetings
Desirable criteria
  • To have a least three years’ experience of healthcare and charity sectors with understanding of health environment and/or government departments or commercial environment
  • Experience of delivering a rebrand and roll out programme through a complex organisation
  • Experience of NHS procurement process

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent understanding of brand and its role within an organisation
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written including brief writing, copywriting and presentations
  • Excellent knowledge of traditional DM and offline marketing as well as digital marketing tools and channels including Facebook Business Manager, LinkedIn and email marketing tools
  • Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders across an organisation
  • Excellent knowledge of creative design principles, showing good creative appreciation and an ability to recommend direction
  • Good production awareness with experience of all forms of print/production and cost management and efficiencies
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage many different projects all with competing priorities and stakeholder needs
  • Proven problem solving and negotiation skills
Desirable criteria
  • Media/advertising experience – planning, negotiation and implementation
  • PR and communication experience
