Broadmoor Hospital is at the forefront of forensic mental health nursing and forms part of the West London NHS Trust. It is one of only three High Secure Hospitals in England and Wales. Broadmoor Hospital is a stimulating, challenging and rewarding place to work, both clinically and culturally.

Main duties of the job

We have opened a brand new state of the art High Secure Hospital and are looking for male only staff to come and join our team. We are looking for people who are enthusiastic, innovative and has a desire to contribute to shaping and delivering modern mental health care in a high secure setting.

We are looking to recruit a number of highly motivated, forward thinking and emotionally resilient Healthcare Assistants at Band 3, who can work flexibly, to provide high quality care that is both evidence based and patient focused. In return, we are able to offer successful candidates an excellent experience in a very unique and challenging setting. We provide regular supervision and training opportunities, both in-house and external.

We require the post holders to be an effective team player and to be committed to equal opportunities and non-discriminatory practices.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Proven evidence of an acceptable level of education/qualification (e.g. CSE, GCSE, O Level).
  • NVQ level 3 (or working towards)
Desirable criteria
  • Any relevant qualifications
  • Relevant Group Work related courses.
  • City & Guilds 730

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 3 years in a health care setting or 3 years relevant work experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of work in mental health, challenging behaviour or learning disabilities.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate an interest in continuing personal and professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • Willing to undertake further training as required

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good communications skills both written and verbal.
  • Able to demonstrate interests/hobbies and crafts.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Proven team player with a flexible approach.
  • Able to develop and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Able to form good working relationships in a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Ability to impart knowledge to others, supervise and direct work of others.
  • Demonstrate the importance of cultural and other differences in working with people in a safe and sensitive manner.

  • PMVA – Required to undertake Clinical 1 training for PMVA.
