Business Support Assistant- Adult Community Nursing Services

Band 4

37.5 hrs per week

The post holder will work independently but under the direction and guidance of the Senior Administration Manager. He/she will be responsible for the effective & efficient smooth running of their designated services, ensuring key targets are met and to resolve any operational issues.  The post holder will also ensure the staff they manage are supported and trained to perform well within the role. The post holder will deputise in the absence of the Senior Administration Manager across the Services.

The successful applicant must be flexible with good interpersonal and administrative skills and good attention to detail and be able to communicate effectively.  The ability to work flexibly and to prioritize work will be essential.

Main duties of the job

The Single Point of Assessment Team (SPOA) is the gateway for all referrals into all adult community services. The service processes all referrals via EMIS and is a single point of contact for all referrers. The service operates from 8am to 8pm 7 days per week including bank holidays.

The DN hub supports the District Nursing teams in providing reception and clerical duties. The service operates from 9am to 5pm 5 days a week.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 4 in Administration or equivalent experience
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English

Knowledge & Understanding

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of Patient administration systems
  • Knowledge of clerical procedures, working as part of team, & working to deadlines.
  • Accuracy & attention to detail
  • Knowledge of allocation or workloads to teams, rostering staff to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Knowledge of day to day management of staff, including appraisal, grievance & recruitment of staff.

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent Written and oral and communication skills
  • Ability to work and make decisions and escalate as required
  • Advanced levels of computer literacy

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of following policies and procedures.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
  • Experience of people management in an office setting
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of EMIS or other clinical systems
