Band 5 Experienced Staff Nurse – Adult
Croydon are seeking EXPERIENCED Band 5 nurses to complement our medical and surgical clinical teams.
Candidates need to have a minimum of 18 months post registration experience in the acute hospital setting and should have completed their preceptorship.

Our ideal candidate must
· Hold a current registration with the NMC
· Demonstrate a minimum 18 months experience and up to date knowledge of care, supported by relevant post-basic studies/qualification.
· Display good interpersonal skills and ability to instruct and demonstrate care activities.
· Have sound knowledge of care planning and its practical application.

These roles are full time (approx. 37.5 hours per week) and we require individuals who are able to work a mix of day, nights, weekends and public holidays.
Interview dates: Thursday 10th and Friday 11th April.
Main duties of the job
The post holder has responsibility for the provision of competent professional nursing care, to meet with individual needs of the designated patient population.
The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of such care to a specific group of patients, and take charge of the ward / department on a regular basis.
The post holder will organise own time and that of junior staff, delegating to junior staff and learners, and participating in teaching and education programmes for staff and patients.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with active NMC registration
- 18 month minimum post registration experience
- Demonstrates understanding of NMC Code of Professional Conduct
- Demonstrates up to date continuous professional development
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Awareness and understanding of current acute health issues
- Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
- Demonstrates sound knowledge of infection control standards
- Demonstrates understanding of the importance of audit/quality
Skills
Essential criteria
- Proficiencient in dispensing and administrating oral & IV medication
- Able to manage a deteriorating patient
- Completed preceptorship
- Able to manage patients emotional needs and demonstrate empathy and caring
- Ability to lead a team/shift
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
